Following the incident, police have arrested a 23-year-old man, A’Quan Kaishaid Laurence Thorton, also of Mankato, in connection with the shooting.
According to Mankato Police, the incident took place at approximately 9:25 a.m. in the 400 block of Holly Lane. Following the shooting, Hussein’s vehicle was driven to a nearby parking lot off Star Street, where first responders arrived on the scene. Emergency personnel worked promptly, but Hussein was pronounced unresponsive upon arrival.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Mankato Police are being assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) as well as the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force.
