Richard was a proud alumnus of North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and North Carolina State University, where he studied Mechanical Engineering. His education laid the foundation for a successful career at Microsoft, where he served as a Senior Support Escalation Engineer. Colleagues remember him as a dedicated professional, always willing to assist others, and committed to resolving complex challenges with both skill and patience.
Beyond his technical expertise, Richard was deeply committed to his community. As a U.S. Marine veteran, he carried the values of discipline, honor, and service into every aspect of his life. Karen Thomas Mathieson shared, “I haven’t been able to post because we are still all trying to wake up from this horrible dream. Richard Roddy, we miss you terribly. Please keep my family in your prayers. Richard lived in Waxhaw, North Carolina, but hailed from Littleton, North Carolina, and remained closely connected to both communities. A service celebrating Richard’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Carmel Baptist Church in Matthews, North Carolina, followed by visitation. The ceremony will honor his remarkable contributions, both professionally and personally, and provide an opportunity for the community to pay tribute to a man whose impact will continue to resonate for years to come.
