Abilene Police Investigate Shooting at Lincoln Drive Party, Two Injured

The Abilene Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at a party on the 2200 block of Lincoln Drive, resulting in injuries to two individuals. Authorities confirmed that the incident took place around 1:20 a.m. on Nov. 9.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a 19-year-old male and a 16-year-old juvenile suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were immediately transported to local hospitals for treatment. Law enforcement officials reported that the injuries are not considered life-threatening, and the 19-year-old is a student at McMurry University, which issued a statement regarding the incident.

“McMurry University is aware of an off-campus incident over the weekend involving one of our students,” the statement read. “The student was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries. We are grateful to report that the student is stable and is expected to make a full recovery. His parents are with him in Abilene. Our focus is on supporting the student and his family during his recovery. Local authorities are investigating the incident, and we are staying in contact with them as appropriate. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be sharing additional details at this time.”

Police confirmed that the suspect involved in the shooting fled the scene and has been identified by witnesses. While authorities have not released the name of the suspect, they stated that there is no perceived danger to the public. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
