Rochester authorities have released the identity of the man killed in a Saturday evening shooting on the city’s west side.
The victim has been identified as Quinton Wynn, 30, of Rochester. Police report that Wynn was found around 7 p.m. in the front yard of a residence located at the corner of Jay and Walnut streets. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to the Rochester Police Department, the shooting occurred following a fight that began inside a home on Jay Street and continued outside. While the full circumstances of the altercation remain under investigation, officers confirmed that Wynn was directly involved in the confrontation.
During the course of the investigation, police briefly detained a man who called 911 from a nearby home on York Street, claiming he had been involved in the shooting. The individual was later released, though detectives are continuing to work with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges may be appropriate.
